Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park
Sagaing Division

The Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park, one of six sites in
Myanmar on the ASEAN Heritage Parks list, is the home of many
wild animals, including elephants, tigers, deer and a variety of
rare bird species. About 100 species of butterfly are also found
in this park about 95 km northwest of Monywa, the capital of
Sagaing Division. Observing wildlife in the virgin jungle and
recreational activities include trekking and elephant riding.

Indawgyi Lake Wildlife Sanctuary
Kachin State

Indawgyi Lake, the largest inland lake in Southeast Asia and the
surrounding monsoon forests and wetlands, offer opportunities to
observe habitats of jungle cats, rare butter files, turtles and
about 170 species of resident and migratory birds. The sanctuary
is also listed as an ASEAN Heritage Site.

Kakaborazi National Park
Kachin State

Another ASEAN Heritage Site, the 1472 square-mile. (3812 sq
km) Kakaborazi National Park, in the eastern foothills of the
Himalayas, has the highest elevation of any eco tourism site in
Southeast Asia. It is dominated by snow-capped Mt. Kakaborazi,
at 5881m, the highest peak in Southeast Asia. The Mei Kha, one
of two rivers which form the Ayeyarwaddy, rises in this park.
The park offers trekking and mountain climbing and is also the
habitat of rare fauna, including musk deer, red panda and red
goral, as weel as hundreds of species of birds, Visitors will
also be able to observe the culture and traditions of the lisu,
Aawang and other national races.

Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary
Ayeyarwaddy Division

No other site in Myanmar has as many species of mangrove as
this Ayeyarwaddy delta sanctuary in Bogalay township Ayeyarwaddy
Division. The Ayeyarwaddy dolphin, as well as crocodiles,
turtles, tortoises and otters can be seen in this wildlife
sanctuary.

Myeik ( Mergui ) Archipelago

The Myeik Archipelago Myanmar's south - eastern coast, with
its 800 islands and beautiful coral reefs and a rich variety of

Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary

This 40 square-mile sanctuary is a favorite of bird watchers.
Every year, millions of birds usually flyway to escape from
winter. They stop to rest and feed in Asia. So the flyway
contains a network of wetlands and Moeyungyi is one of them. A
three-hours drive from Yangon, by the Yangon - Mandalay highway.

Phoe Kyar Elephant Camp
Bago Division

Phoe Kyar Elephant Camp, on the banks of the Thaing reek in
Bago Division's Taungoo township . It is a base camp for timber
extraction in the area and it's possible for visitors to seek
working elephants in action.

Myaing Hay Wun Elephant Camp
Yangon Division

This elephant camp offers more than elephant rides and the
sight of elephants being captured and dome satiate! Visitors
also have the option of observing a variety of wildlife ,
including deer , wild cats , bears , peafowl and lizards. The
park is in Htaukyant township , about 72 miles north west of
Yangon.
